Charles T. Charlie Snyder, 83 of Eastwood, formerly of Forks Township, Pa., died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in Gracedale, Upper Nazareth Township, Pa. Born June 2, 1923 in Forks Township, he was a son of the late Charles L. and Mabel (Troxell) Snyder. Charles was a World War II veteran in the Navy and served aboard the Destroyer, USS SIGSBEE DD-502, in the Pacific Theatre. A 1940 graduate of Easton High School, he worked with his father on the family's farm in Forks Township. He and his wife owned and operated Uhlers Hotel, Forks Township. He retired in 1985. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 4366, Nazareth, and the American Legion, Belvidere, N.J. Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Marguerite M. Menear; two sons, Charles T. and his wife, Karen, Tim L. and his wife, Toni; daughter, Karen L. Mathis; brother, Robert; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Rose Trinkley, Elaine Bergstresser and Gladys Zullo. Services were private. Arrangements, George G. Bensing Funeral Home Inc., Moorestown, Pa. Web Master's Notes; Charles Troxell Snyder enlisted in the U S Navy September17, 1942 at Allentown, Pa, service number 651 33 34. He was received aboard the USS Sigsbee DD-502, March 25, 1943 from Receiving Station, Norfolk, VA as S2c. Charles Troxell Snyder rose to the rank of GM1c. He served with pride and honor aboard the USS Sigsbee, two years, eight months and seven days (983 days). He was transferred, December 1, 1945 to Receiving Station Charleston, SC for further transfer to Separation Center Bainbridge, MD, for discharge.
